IPTV Reseller

How to Become an IPTV Reseller

IPTV, or Internet protocol television, is a new step in the development of telecommunications that takes television beyond the constraints of radio signals and conventional cable connections. Depending upon the service to which they subscribe, IPTV users can watch live television or video on demand. The onset of this new technology provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to become qualified resellers, standing as intermediaries between IPTV service providers and end users.

Set up a legal entity. This might be as simple as an assumed name or DBA -- "doing business as" -- or it might be a partnership, corporation or LLC. Choose a name for your business, and apply it to the legal entity you form. This name should serve as a marketing tool for you, identifying your business as one that deals with IPTV or telecommunications.

2
Contact IPTV service providers. Most providers are constantly on the lookout for resellers to help them expand their operations. Visit company websites and fill out the necessary forms regarding your company and personal information.

3
Set up a sales office. Because IPTV reselling is mostly a direct-sales industry, your sales office does not necessarily need to serve as a point of contact with prospective clients. Rather, it should be a hub of activity for your sales team. If you are just starting out as an independent sales firm, you might not have any employees, in which case you should be able to operate from home in the beginning.

4
Educate yourself by reading the service provider's materials. The IPTV service provider under which you work might have various levels for which resellers can qualify. Getting to a higher level can mean higher revenue streams, but you might have to learn new skills to do so. Your service provider might also help you by providing marketing support. Become familiar with the provider's marketing support tools.

5
If you are planning to hire employees, apply for an employer identification number through the Internal Revenue Service. If not, a Social Security number should suffice.
